SQUARE EYES - Eugenia Lim - Media Artist

Eugenia works predominantly in video and photomedia to explore themes of identity, race and culture.  In May 2008, Eugenia completed an Australia Council Emerging Producer In Community (EPIC) internship at Visionary Images on the A-LURE locative media game. In 2009, Lim will travel to New York on an Australia Council Inter-Arts RUN_WAY grant for a residency with Share NY, an international collective of audio-visual improvisational artists; and the Experimental Television Centre in Owego, NY. Lim is a founding and on-going member of Tape Projects, a group of Melbourne-based artists dedicated to the exhibition, promotion and proliferation of high-calibre experimental interdisciplinary art. She VJs regularly with OUTPOST collective (affiliated with Share NY) and Uber Lingua. Eugenia has exhibited widely in both group and solo shows in Melbourne, Queensland and New York in spaces such as Clubs Project Inc., Seventh Gallery, the Centre for Contemporary Photography, QUT and HUN Gallery (NY). Her work has been selected for inclusion in Figuring Landscapes, a touring programme of video works by UK and Australian artists that will be screened at the Tate Modern (London) and Queensland Gallery of Modern Art in late 2008-2009. Eugenia is a current recipient of the City of Melbourne’s Young Artist Grant. Eugenia holds an Honours degree in Fine Art (Media Arts) RMIT University and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (VCA/University of Melbourne).
